Collaborative Effort with APOPO

Animal Mama is proud to be a key partner in APOPO's mission since 2018 in Cambodia. APOPO has been instrumental in removing landmines and unexploded ordnance alongside local and international partners since 2014. Utilizing a unique approach that integrates landmine detection rats, technical survey dogs, manual deminers, and machinery, APOPO's program effectively enhances landmine clearance operations across four provinces: Siem Reap, Preah Vihear, Battambang, and Ratanakiri.

Animal Mama's Role

At Animal Mama Hospital, we ensure the health and well-being of over 100 working animals currently active in APOPO's demining efforts. Our monthly health checks and treatments are crucial in maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of these scent detection animals. By preserving their health, we safeguard the lives of the many individuals who rely on their crucial work.

Educational Support

In addition to veterinary care, Animal Mama provides comprehensive training courses for APOPO handlers. These sessions are essential, equipping handlers from global regions—including Colombia, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Lebanon, and Ukraine—with vital knowledge and skills. Our curriculum covers animal anatomy, common illnesses, injury management, and practical exercises that are crucial for on-site problem-solving and safety.
