Animal Mama is engaged in a variety of ongoing projects, each designed to address specific needs within the community and the broader field of animal welfare. Our projects range from direct animal care to larger-scale public health initiatives, providing a comprehensive experience for interns. Here’s what you can expect to participate in:
Rabies Free Cambodia: A pivotal initiative aimed at eradicating rabies through widespread vaccination campaigns, protecting both animal and human populations.
Home Of Heroes: A retirement sanctuary for service animals such as demining dogs, where they receive care and respect after their service life ends.
APOPO: Demining Dogs & Rats: Collaborating with APOPO to train and care for animals skilled in detecting landmines, enhancing safety and recovery in post-conflict areas.
NPA Demining Dogs: Partnering with the Norwegian People’s Aid to support their demining efforts through veterinary care for their canine teams.
Pagoda Protocol Initiative: Focused on improving the health and welfare of animals living in pagodas by providing medical care, sterilization, and vaccinations.
Wildlife & Aquarium: Supporting the health and welfare of aquatic and terrestrial wildlife through specialized veterinary care and rehabilitation programs.
Animal Rescue Shelter: Our facility provides rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming services for abandoned or injured street animals.
Support for Other Shelters & Rescuers: Extending help to other shelters and individual rescuers by providing medical support, resources, and training to enhance their capacity for animal care.

The cost of the internship program at Animal Mama Veterinary Hospital & Pet Wellness Center is $400 per week. This fee encompasses a comprehensive array of services and benefits designed to enhance your educational experience and provide comfort and support during your stay in Cambodia. Here’s what’s included:
Accommodation: Interns will be housed in student houses equipped with all necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Airport Transfer: We provide arrival and departure transfers between the airport and the accommodation to ensure a smooth and hassle-free beginning and end to your internship experience.
Local SIM Card: A local SIM card will be provided upon arrival to help you stay connected and navigate easily around the area, ensuring seamless communication throughout your stay.
Training Plan: The internship includes a structured training plan tailored to provide extensive hands-on experience across various veterinary disciplines. This comprehensive training covers everything from surgical procedures to general animal care.
Supervision and Mentorship: Continuous supervision and mentorship by experienced veterinary professionals are guaranteed throughout the program, providing guidance and support as you navigate through various learning experiences.
Use of Facilities and Equipment: Interns have full access to all medical, surgical, and diagnostic facilities at Animal Mama, offering a real-world experience in a fully operational veterinary setting.
Participation in Special Programs: Interns will participate in all of Animal Mama’s ongoing programs and initiatives, which include community outreach, public health campaigns, and specialized animal care projects.
Transportation and Accommodation Expenses Within Projects: All transportation and accommodation expenses related to project participation are covered. This ensures that interns can focus on their training and contributions without worrying about logistical costs.
Training Certificate: Upon completion of the internship, interns will receive a training certificate that acknowledges their participation and outlines the skills and knowledge they have acquired during the program.
Final Evaluation Report: At the end of the internship, a detailed report evaluating your performance and progress will be provided. This report is useful for future educational or professional opportunities, offering insights into your strengths and areas for improvement.
Veterinary Students: Must provide a university certificate showing current enrollment in a veterinary medicine program.
Professional Veterinarians: Must provide an official veterinary certificate verifying their qualifications.
Intermediate English: Applicants must have at least an intermediate level of English to ensure effective communication within our diverse team.
Applicants must demonstrate a genuine love, care, and respect for animals, as these are the core values of our organization
Internship Booking: A minimum commitment of two weeks is required to ensure a meaningful experience and sufficient time to engage fully with our projects.
Health Insurance & Accident Coverage: All interns must have health insurance and accident coverage to participate in the program.
Rabies Vaccine: A current rabies vaccination is essential due to the nature of the work with street animals and for the safety of the intern.
